Purpose

The Open Compute Foundation’s [Board of Directors] charters the Open Compute Projects, appoints the initial Project Committee chairs (PCC) (or project leads) as well as approves the specifications that are accepted into the Open Compute Project (OCP).

As our community has grown, it is now time to put into place a standard by which the project communities begin to govern themselves with oversight from the OCP Foundation’s Board and guidance from the its Community Manager.

As we prepare for 2014 and a more open and transparent relationship and since we have had our first appointed PCC or Project Lead announce his resignation now is a great time to begin our election process.

Terms

PCC/Project Leads will be elected for a term of one (1) year which will begin on 1 December 2013 through 31 November 2014

Who is eligible?

Anyone on the project who has had sustained contribution to that project.

How does nominations work?

Anyone on the project can nominate themselves or someone else on the project for inclusion on the ballot. Just email Amber Graner and let her know if you are nominating someone else or if you are self nominating. If you are self-nominating please include a short biography about yourself so we can let members of the project know a little about who they are voting for.

Who can vote?

Anyone who is a member of the project along with the OCP Board. You must be signed up to the project mailing list not later than one week prior to the date of the voting in order to be included in the voting process. The email you use to sign up for the mailing list will be the email that your voting key will be sent to. This will be a unique key sent to your email address.

Special Circumstances

In the event a PCC/Project Lead resigns from their position prior to the end of the term, that individual, if possible should give the Amber Graner the names of two people that would be interested in leading the project in the interim period.
