OCP announces today the hiring of industry influencer George Tchaparian as its Chief Executive Officer and an open search for a Chief Technology officer.
March 1, 2022 - The Open Compute Project Foundation (OCP) and board of directors is pleased to announce that George Tchaparian has been hired as its Chief Executive Officer.
George Tchaparian is a seasoned technology executive with more than 30 years of industry experience in all corporate levels and functions. George was the longstanding President and CEO of Edgecore Networks Corporation. Most recently, George was a corporate executive focusing on transformative next generation strategies for the Accton Group (Accton Technologies and Edgecore Networks Corporation), and previously a senior vice president of worldwide research & development (R&D). George was also the General Manager for Accton Group's Open Disaggregated Networking Business. George also held senior management positions at Hewlett–Packard Corporation (HP) for more than 25 years, and has served as the Co-Chair of Open Compute Project (OCP) Taiwan regional community for many years and a member of the Open Network Foundation (ONF) board of directors. In 2018, George was recognized as one of "The World's First Top 50 Edge Computing Influencers" (#EDGE50) and in 2019, one of "The World's Most Influential Data Economy Leaders" (#POWER200).

Mr. Carter has served as the interim CEO/Executive Director since the retirement of Rocky Bullock and while the search was conducted. Mr. Carter has served as the Foundation’s Chief Technology Officer for nearly a decade, and will be stepping down in 2022 but will continue to serve the Foundation as a technical advisor.
The Foundation is currently conducting an executive search for a full-time Chief Technology Officer. “The Foundation is at an important juncture, having just celebrated our ten-year anniversary” states Rebecca Weekly, chairperson of the board for the OCP Foundation. “In addition to the hiring of industry veteran George, we now need to fill this important role with an individual who brings to the Foundation hardware, software, silicon and solutions experience as our collaborative innovations continue to meet the needs of worldwide organizations from the data center to the edge.”
