The 2017 Open Compute Summit, to be held 8 – 9 March at the Santa Clara Convention Center, has announced its schedule.
The theme for this year is: Open Hardware. Open Software. Open Future. Attendees will not only hear about OCP hardware, but this year we move up the stack to highlight the software deployed on it. The Open Compute Project (OCP) will also showcase the major open hardware initiatives that have been contributed to the Foundation over the past year and look to the future of OCP as we highlight our goals and focus for 2017 and beyond.
“It’s not just about the rack, it’s about open innovation regardless of rack type and whether that rack type is best for greenfield or brownfield deployments and integrations” stated Corey Bell, Co-CEO of the Open Compute Project Foundation. “Our OCP-Accepted™ and OCP-Inspired™ programs are driving new and innovative product lines that are based on the contributions from the past year,” Bell continued. “We’re excited to see OEMs, ODMs, and 3rd-party ISVs looking to validate their software on top of OCP Hardware to drive an Open Future that continues to promote the consumption of, collaboration with and contribution to the OCP Community and Ecosystem.”
-
We will hear the state of and vision for OCP, from Jason Taylor, OCP’s Chairman of the Board.
-
Keynote presentations will be made by Microsoft, Intel and Facebook
-
Attendees will hear product, innovation and future looking announcements in the Executive and Expo Hall Tracks from Summit sponsors.
-
The Engineering Workshops will feature in-depth discoveries from the Open Rack, Networking, Server, Hardware Management, Data Center, Storage and Telco projects. Those who were at the 2014 event saw the emergence of the Networking Group and this 2017 event will see the same emergence from the Storage group. Attendees will have the opportunity to help guide the future of these project groups and see how the technology verticals and industry verticals come together through open collaboration, driving new initiatives and innovation to accelerate the adoption of OCP Hardware throughout the Data Center Ecosystem.
-
There will be a lively panel discussion moderated by Jim Zemlin (Linux Foundation), featuring Mark Shuttleworth (Canonical), Mark Shaw (Microsoft), Dave Peterson (HPE), John Linville (Red Hat) and Jane Chung (NetApp).
As if an expo hall packed with the latest, greatest OCP hardware and software offerings as well 100+ sessions that span the Keynote, Executive Tracks, Expo Hall and Engineering Workshop Tracks isn’t enough…there will be a keynote call-to-action from futurist Steve Brown, an accomplished speaker, blogger, strategist, and executive coach with 25 years of experience in the high-tech sector, including at Intel. Steve works with a wide range of Fortune 500 companies and brands spanning the retail, hospitality, media, and communications sectors.
