The Open Compute Project adds a new dimension to the OCP Marketplace with the introduction of the Open Chiplet Economy.

Chiplets have arrived in today’s semiconductor economy. They are no longer an idea or a conceptual design, but are used in a variety of high value products, such as CPUs, and GPUs for datacenter and AI applications or for future automotive usage. However, most chiplet products today are designed and delivered by a single company, with some multi-vendor ecosystems starting to form. To unlock the full potential of chiplets, where anyone can participate by offering or buying chiplets and related services, an open forum based on open standards is needed. The OCP offers a space for this interaction through a new section in its Marketplace.

The Open Compute Project’s (OCP's) is a rapidly growing, global community with the mission to design, use, and enable delivery of the most efficient designs for scalable and sustainable computing. In the area of chiplets this means to develop an Open Chiplet Economy Section within the OCP Marketplace, where products and services built on a core set of open, adaptable standards, can be offered across all participants in the semiconductor ecosystem with the objective of removing any hurdles across different vendors, packaging technologies, process nodes and applications.

What is the OCP Marketplace? The OCP Marketplace is designed to help our members reach the market by showcasing products, services and solutions that align with approved OCP specifications, or follow OCP published best practices. The current OCP Marketplace has over sixty-five participating vendor members listing over 300 products and solutions from across the data center including servers, storage, networking, advanced cooling and many others. The number of marketplace visitors and number of listings has been growing steadily year over year and we consistently receive over 13K views per month evenly split between the Americas (36%), EU (31%) and APAC (33%) with the top 4 countries being the US, Taiwan, China and India.

This new section devoted to the Open Chiplet Economy allows suppliers of products, services and equipment to present their offerings to the semiconductor world. Vendors and companies can list their chiplets or services and showcase technical information about interfaces, collateral, video links and data sheets.

The Open Chiplet Economy section is designed to cover the entire spectrum of the chiplet economy covering both chiplet vendors, companies open for partnerships, and the entire support ecosystem, including:

  • Chiplet Vendors
  • Partnership Opportunities
  • IP Providers (D2D, NOC, eFPGA, Metrology, etc.)
  • Design Services
  • EDA and Tool Vendors
  • Foundries, Packaging, Assembly and Test
  • Educational Material

The OCP Foundation will provide companies participating in the OCP Marketplace business development metrics around visitor engagement, collateral downloads, click throughs etc. to ensure we are meeting the member’s business development goals.

We would like to invite all companies in the chiplet universe to join the Open Chiplet Economy within the OCP Marketplace. This will be a great opportunity for you not only to connect with prospective customers, but also partners and suppliers in the chiplet value chain. It would enable you to design, source IP, purchase fabrication, assembly & test services for your chiplet products.

Please reach out to steve.helvie@opencompute.org for program details and to learn more. The OCP Foundation team would be happy to set up an introductory call. Welcome onboard!
